100 Resilient Cities (100RC), a global initiative pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, has asked the Social Intelligence Institute to partner with them to provide internet and workshop training to selected cities around the globe. In 2013, the first 32 cities were named and 35 more additional cities were named in December 2014. The final round of cities were announced in May 2016. No single continent is singled out.

The goal of 100RC is to help individuals, communities, institutions, businesses, and systems within a city to survive, adapt, and grow, no matter what kinds of chronic stresses and acute shocks they experience. It’s about making a city better, in both good times and bad, for the benefit of all its citizens, particularly the poor and vulnerable.

The Social Intelligence training fosters strong community and family ties, leading to a socially cohesive, interconnected city. Through this training, social challenges such as crime, family stresses, racial/ethnic tensions, and social isolation can be replaced by a proud sense of place and wellbeing for all residents, allowing cities to function with minimal disruption–even thrive–under extreme and unexpected economic, social, and environmental stressors.
